Lead Renovator/NC-EPA Lead Renovator RRP Certification Training

NC-EPA Lead Renovator (RRP) Certification Training

Lead hazards in the home environment are the most important remaining exposure sources for children. Lead in children causes life-long learning disabilities and behavior problems.

If a paid worker disturbs paint in Pre-1978 homes, state rules require the worker to have NC RRP certification to protect children from lead poisoning. To avoid fines, up to $5,000 per day, handy men, carpenters, contractors, property managers, etc should not delay getting certified and to start keeping children safe during repairs.

PEACH offers both an Initial RRP Class (8 hours, $225/person) and a Refresher RRP Class (4 hours, $150/person) so you get can the training to work safely in homes built before 1978.

Beginning April 2010 contractors performing work that disturbs lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified, and follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. The North Carolina Health Hazards Control Unit, Lead-Based Paint Hazard Management Program (LHMP) has state-specific statutes and rules for certification and work practices during renovation, repair, and painting activities conducted in Target Housing and Child-occupied facilities built before 1978.

To learn more about the NC Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP) visit www.epi.state.nc.us/epi/lead/lhmp.html or call 919-707-5950.

PEACH is a North Carolina accredited Training Provider and offers regularly scheduled English language NC-EPA Lead Renovator (RRP) Initial and Refresher Training Courses.
